Masirah Island — Wind & Monsoon Climatology
RAFO Masirah (OOMA / WMO 41288) at 20.675°N, 58.890°E, off Oman's east coast. Loading the station record…
Where it is
Masirah sits squarely in the path of the Findlater (Somali) Jet — the cross-equatorial low-level jet that drives Oman's southwest summer monsoon. The dashed line traces that flow up the Arabian Sea to the island.
Monthly wind climatology
Mean wind speed by month, in knots, with the 90th-percentile envelope. The May–September rise is the southwest monsoon; July is the peak. Winter (Oct–Mar) is calm by comparison.
